Now through Sept. 21, Starbucks is offering a free artisan breakfast sandwich when you sign up for Starbucks Rewards. This offer is only valid for new sign-ups only. After you sign up, you’ll receive a coupon in the mail.
To join Starbucks Rewards, you’ll need a Starbucks gift card with at least some value on it. (If you have a half-used one, that will work.) Register the card and be sure to fill in your mailing address on your account. The coupon will arrive in 4-6 weeks.
If you like Starbucks products, the program could be worthwhile. All you have to do is pay with your registered card when you go there. Each drink you buy gets you one star. (If you buy two drinks, be sure to have them rung up separately, or it will only count as one star.) You’ll get a free drink on your birthday (via mailed coupon) no matter how many stars you have.
Once you reach Green level (5 stars) you also get free syrups and soymilk upgrades, as well as free refills on brewed coffee and tea. Green members also get a free beverage with a whole-bean coffee purchase.
When you get to Gold (30 stars) you get everything from the other levels, plus a free drink every 15 stars and other rewards. See the whole list of Starbucks Rewards benefits here. I recently became a Gold member – I have yet to get my personalized card and other stuff, but I’m hopeful.
I also like the Starbucks Card Mobile app for my iPhone to track my stars and reload my registered card with a few clicks.
