Giveaway: Siggi’s Icelandic Skyr Yogurt

Category : contest, Featured, food, free

“So, uh…what’s with this Viking yogurt you want me to get?”

This was my husband’s question a few weeks ago. I had given him a list of things to pick up from Sprouts on his way home from work, and on the list were cups of Siggi’s Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt. I picked these up on a whim a couple of months ago, and I cannot get enough of them!

I initially got these because I had recently taken to eating Greek yogurt. I’m a member of Weight Watchers, and Greek yogurt is great for dieters because it’s way more filling than traditional yogurts. Siggi’s nonfat skyr yogurt is made much the same as Greek yogurt. They strain away much of the whey, and the result is a thick, creamy yogurt with a protein content 2 to 3 times as high as regular yogurts. Plus, each cup is fairly low in sugar, which is also awesome. (Note for Weight Watchers members: Each cup is only 2 PointsPlus.)

So, nonfat, high protein, low sugar. It must taste terrible, right? Actually, it’s more flavorful than most of the Greek-style yogurts out there. If you like your yogurt supersweet like Jell-O Pudding, you might be disappointed, but if you like a thick, creamy, slightly tart yogurt with a hint of fruit that’s not too overpowering – this is what you want. Trust me.

Siggi’s comes in lots of awesome fruit flavors, as well as vanilla and plain. Take a look at the varieties here, and note the ingredients lists – there isn’t anything artificial to be found anywhere.

So, you’re ready to try it, right? In DFW, Siggi’s can be found at Central Market, Whole Foods, and, of course, Sprouts. If you want to stay up to date with their latest happenings, you can like Siggi’s on Facebook.

Now, on to the giveaway: One lucky Fort Worth on the Cheap reader will receive a Siggi’s tote bag and 10 certificates, each good for one free cup of Siggi’s Yogurt. These cups retail for about $2 each, so this is a pretty nice prize. The tote bag is nice too – it reminds me of those LL Bean canvas totes rather than the 99-cent reusable bags you get at Target. Check out the pic here:

To enter, fill out the form below. I’ll draw the winner at 9 p.m. central time on Monday, May 2 and notify the winner by email. You’ll have 48 hours to confirm receipt of the prize. Good luck! Texas residents only, please.

Disclosure: Siggi’s provided me with a tote bag and coupons, plus another tote bag and coupons for one of my readers. I did not receive any other compensation for this post. All opinions in this entry are my own.
