On Sunday, April 29 from 12-4 p.m., Fort Worth’s southside will host Spring Open Streets, a car-free celebration and community event. The event will involve the closure of segments of streets to car traffic – only human-powered modes will be allowed, from pedestrians to bicycles and everything in between. The closed streets will be transformed into urban playgrounds, with food vendors, live music, kid’s areas, fitness classes, and more. Spring Open Streets is based on the popular Ciclovía events originating in South America. Families and friends can get some exercise and enjoy a festival atmosphere at the same time. Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29 is Art in the Square, a weekend-long celebration in Southlake Town Square. At this free event, you’ll be able to browse fine art from more than 140 jury-selected artists, from photography to jewelry and sculpture. There’s also a full lineup of live entertainment on two stages. At the Kids Korner, children can take part in a variety of activities, including sugar art, face painting and colored hair spray. There’s also The Zone, another youth-oriented area with bounce houses, bungee attractions and a rock-climbing wall. (Zone activities require tickets.)
