Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio This Weekend

This Saturday, June 6 from 1 to 1:45 p.m., the Kimbell Art Museum will once again host Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio, a FREE program that introduces kids 12 and under and their adult companions to fun and inspiring ways to enjoy art together.  Each session features a brief gallery activity and a related studio-art project. This week’s theme is “Dress Up Matisse.” Space for the event is limited to 20 kids plus accompanying adults. Sign up at the museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion one hour before the program begins.

Each session features a brief gallery activity and a related studio art project. This week’s theme is “Sculpture Explorers.”

The program is free of charge, but space is limited to 20 kids and their accompanying adults. You can sign up in the museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion one hour before the program starts.

Free Event: Cowtown Goes Green

Come to the Fort Worth Stockyards on Saturday, March 14 for Cowtown Goes Green, their annual family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The festivities will happen from noon to 5 p.m. Planned events include free activities for kids, including armadillo races, a petting zoo, face painting, games and contests with 92.1 Hank FM, live music and gunfights. Following the 4 p.m. cattle drive, a special Western-Irish themed Cowtown Goes Green parade will happen on Exchange Avenue. Local businesses, horseback riding clubs and other groups will participate. This is a free event!

Dr. Seuss-Themed Kids Club at Ridgmar Mall

On Thursday, March 12, Ridgmar Mall will host its monthly Kids Club event from 11 a.m. to noon in Macy’s Center Court. This month’s theme is Dr. Seuss! The day will be filled with Dr. Seuss’ classic tales, and Seussville games, crafts, activities, and more. This is a free event!

Each session features a brief gallery activity and a related studio-art project. The workshop happens from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Space is limited to 20 students. To sign up, come to the entrance to the education studios in the Renzo Piano Pavilion beginning one hour before the program.

Walk of Gratitude in Downtown FW

 photo walkofgratitude_zpsf55321a1.pngThis Saturday, Dec. 13, military charity Snowball Express will hold a Walk of Gratitude in downtown Fort Worth around 9:30 a.m. This event is a way for local residents to show their appreciation for the families of military personnel who have died during their service. Feel free to bring flags, patriotic signs and any other items you feel might help create a festive atmosphere! The parade will run down Main St. between 9th and 4th streets. See a map here. Organizers are asking attendees to arrive around 9 a.m.

Snowball Express flies in children of fallen soldiers (and their surviving caretakers) to Dallas every year for a fun weekend. Airfare is paid for. If you are a surviving spouse with surviving children, you can apply to attend around September. See an FAQ here.

Birds’ Christmas Tree at Botanic Garden

 photo botanicgardenbirdstree.jpgCome to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden this Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to noon for Birds’ Christmas Tree, an annual holiday tradition. Guests are invited to make biodegradable bird “tweets” ahead of time and bring them to hang on a Christmas tree for the garden’s birds. You can find a list of treat recipes here. The event will take place in the Grove area. Park in the area behind the Montgomery Street Antique Mall along the I-30 access road, which is close to the Grove.

Christmas Tree Lighting at Sundance Square
