This Weekend: Funky Finds Holiday Market

Category : entertainment, Featured, free, gifts, holiday, shopping

It’s back! This weekend, Nov. 15 and 16, is the Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience – a semi-annual extravaganza featuring lots of handmade items from local vendors. Over 100 artists, designers, craft-makers and food-makers will be on hand to help you get your holiday shopping list completed. The market takes place at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, and admission is free. Kids and pets are welcome to attend.

In between your shopping excursions, there will be other fun things to do, too – for a $5 donation to the Humane Society of North Texas and Toys for Tots, you can get a photo with Santa (pets can participate). There will also be pet adoptions, a Toys for Tots drop box, and raffles. The first 75 people through the door each day, who purchase $10 in raffle tickets, will also receive swag bags featuring goodies from some of the vendors. Here’s an example of past swag bag contents.

Get directions and parking info here. The hours for Funky Finds are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Donate Clothes, Get Gift Cards

Category : gifts, shopping

Got some nice clothing or accessories you don’t use anymore? Consider sending them to Fashion Project. This new website is an interesting concept – you send them your gently-worn clothing, handbags and accessories (they’ll send you a postage-paid donation bag) and then decide which charities you would like to benefit from your donation. When your item sells on their Marketplace, the cash is then sent to the charity – and as a bonus and thank you gift, you’ll receive a gift card. There’s no limit to the amount of gift cards you can earn, or the clothing you can donate. And, as a Fashion Project member, you’ll get to shop their FP Marketplace, full of high-end items from other members.

Get started with Fashion Project here. For a limited time, you can also get 20 percent off your first Marketplace purchase with code SHOP20.

Sounds like it’s time to start digging in my closet…
