Holiday Fun at Barnes & Noble

Category : entertainment, family, Featured, free

Come to the Hulen Center Barnes & Noble this Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. for their Puppet Making and Holiday Sing-Along event. This is free! Kids are invited to make a puppet and sing holiday songs with our booksellers and their newfound puppet friends. Please arrive early; space and supplies are limited. Recommended for children ages 4 and up. This is also happening at the Parks at Arlington Mall location and the Shops at North East Mall location, same time and date. If you’re so inclined, come to any of the three stores a little earlier, at 11 a.m., for a Mo Willems story time. Booksellers will help children learn how to draw the beloved Pigeon from Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! with instructions created by the award-winning author and illustrator.

At 7 p.m., all three locations are also holding a Holiday Fluxx Game Night. Get introduced to this unexpected holiday card game with ever-changing rules — even the object of the game changes as often as you draw a card and say, “Go!” Recommended for ages 12 and up. Great option for older kids!

On Sunday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., all three stores are also holding a Snowmen at Night storytime, centered around the book by Caralyn Buehner.

Free Salon Service for Food Donation

Category : beauty, Featured, free

photo remingtoncollegehair_zps630609d2.pngThis one’s closer to Dallas, but it might be worth the drive for some: Throughout the month of November, Remington College is holding Cuts for the Cause, an annual drive to collect food for families in need. Everyone who donates a can of food or other non-perishable food item can receive a free haircut, manicure or pedicure. The salon services will be provided by students and instructors in the Remington College Dallas Campus Cosmetology Program.

To schedule an appointment, call The Salon at Remington at 972-698-3890. Walk-ins are also welcome. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Remember that these students are still learning, so your service might take longer than it does at a normal salon.
