Free Outdoor Movie at Carter Museum

Bring the family to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art this Thursday, May 29 for a free showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo on the museum lawn, as part of their “Sunset Cinema” series. The lawn will open at 6 p.m. and there will be museum tours from 7 to 7:45 p.m. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome. No glass bottles, alcohol or pets will be allowed. Food trucks will be on site from 6-9 p.m., so come hungry!

The next Sunset Cinema after this one will be on June 26, with a showing of Toy Story.

Free Family Fun at Amon Carter Museum

 photo worthreading_zps357e0a55.pngOn Sunday, May 4, the city of Fort Worth will close out the spring chapter of its Worth Reading literacy program with a free celebration at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. From 1-4 p.m., stop by the museum for an art-infused afternoon of activities, stories, movies and prizes.

Worth Reading is a partnership between the Fort Worth Library, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth Independent School District, Rotary Club of Fort Worth and more than 20 community partner organizations. The program’s goals are to establish a culture of reading, lifelong learning and self-improvement; positively affect literacy and student achievement; and expand educational and cultural opportunities for people throughout Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

Explore the wonders of space inside the museum with the FWMSH’s Astronomy Lab on Wheels Program. Connect with ancient civilizations as you hear the rich folklore of the stars that still sparks our imagination today! Tour with Curatorial Fellow Laura Patrizi

Join Laura Patrizi, Luce Curatorial Fellow and curator of Night: Prints and Drawings from the Collection, as she explores the exhibition’s various nocturnal themes and the techniques used to depict them.

Relaxation Sessions with Lucy Càñez
Sessions begin: 7:15 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:45 p.m.
Experience a guided relaxation session, seated or reclining, with yoga instructor Lucy Càñez. Feel the stress melt away with the use of simple techniques that you can use every night before bedtime!

Outdoor Fun

Light up the night with outdoor glowing games! Toss around a bright beach ball, throw a flickering Frisbee with friends, or start a game of radiant ring toss.

School’s out! Get the kiddos out of the house with free story times at the Amon Carter Museum. Every Wednesday from June 6 through July 25 (except July 4), kids can listen to a story, then create their own works of art and enjoy cookies and lemonade. Each storytime this summer will have a different color theme. The schedule is:

On Saturday, March 24, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art will hold a Wild West Double Feature Film Screening beginning at 10 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., they’ll show the family-friendly film Rango, followed by The Good, The Bad and the Ugly at 1 p.m. In between the films, refreshments will be served.
