OfficeMax Special on Backpacks

Category : shopping

This week only, through July 30, OfficeMax is offering 100 percent back in MaxPerks Rewards when you buy backpacks, messenger bags and select totes. MaxPerks rewards are credits that are sent to you quarterly and can be used on just about anything in the store. So if you bought a backpack that was $30, you’d get $30 to spend at OfficeMax later. This offer is available both in store and online; see their online selection here. My kids are too small for the full sized backpacks, but I really like the laptop messenger bags for me!

This week, OfficeMax also has a deal on copy paper: pay $6.99 for a 500-sheet pack and get $6.98 back in MaxPerks Rewards. If you buy several of these MaxPerks deals together and spend at least $50, you’ll qualify for free shipping, too, making this deal especially convenient! (I have an OfficeMax about 5 minutes from me but I still ordered online.)

To take advantage of these deals, you must be a MaxPerks Rewards member. If you’re not, you can sign up here. Membership is free and they’ll give you a keytag you can scan every time you shop at OfficeMax. I get quite a few MaxPerks dollars each year from their ink cartridge recycling program, which gives you $3 for each cartridge you bring in. (I use a lot of ink!)

30% Off at Old Navy

Category : family, Featured, gifts, shopping

It’s stock-up time at Old Navy! Through tomorrow (July 22), you can get 30 percent off all men’s and women’s items, including Women’s Plus and Maternity, when you use the code ONBIG30 at checkout. This offer is only available online.

Since it’s still hot as blazes outside, I’m thinking this sale would be the perfect opportunity to snag warm-weather clothes like this women’s lightweight v-neck tee, which would be just $5.95 after discount. Or maybe these denim shorts, just $10.49 after discount. For men, the ringer tees ($3.50 after discount) are always winners.

But hurry – this sale is over tomorrow, so stock up now on your favorites!

Tax-Free Weekend Deals for Texas Online Shoppers

Category : family, shopping

Don’t feel like braving the crowd’s during Texas’ 2010 tax-free weekend? Me either. But few people know that you can still get tax-free deals on qualifying items at many websites. As long as the store does business in Texas, you can buy from their online presence and still get the discount. For example, Target operates brick-and-mortar stores in Texas; therefore, things like school clothes at Target.com should still be tax-free. Here’s some of the best online deals for back-to-school items:

Old Navy - shop boy bargains here and girl bargains here. They’ve got a LOT of cute stuff, including school uniform items starting at $9.50. Plus, there’s a HUGE online sale if you shop by 8/21. Use the code ONFALL to get 25 percent off on Aug. 20, and 20 percent off on Aug. 21.

Shoebuy -Take $5 off any order of $50 or more at Shoebuy.com plus Free shipping. Use the code BUY5 when you check out to get the discount. Or use the code SHOEBUY to get 10 percent off. (Compare the coupons to see which one is most valuable for you.)

Wal-Mart: see boys’ apparel here and all other clothing here. Also check their clearance section for clothing and shoe bargains.

Target - Spend $50 on kids clothes & get free shipping. They also have 25 percent off Converse shoes for women, men, and kids through Aug. 21.

Kohl’s: Ladies can take up to 60% off Apt. 9 and axcess clothes. Take a look at their kids’ clothes here. And check their clearance section for apparel bargains. Spend at least $50 and get free shipping with code USHIP50.

Sears: Check out their clothing selection here. Free shipping when you spend $49 or more.

If a store charges tax to you from Aug. 20-22 on something that you think should have been tax-free, go here for info on getting a refund.

Giveaway: “Cool in School” Prize Pack

3

Category : contest, family, free

It’s only a matter of days now before the kids start back to school … which means it’s only a matter of days before you have to start packing lunches again! This semester, don’t mess around with drippy, bulky ice packs to keep your kids’ food cool – just put a tube of Yoplait Go-Gurt inside.

According to the manufacturers of Go-Gurt, this portable yogurt-in-a-tube is specially made to freeze and thaw, which makes it an easy alternative to ice packs. Simply put a Go-Gurt in the freezer the night before school, then pop it into the lunchbox right before your child leaves. Voila – instant cool, and they can throw away the Go-Gurt tube at the end of lunch.

In honor of this “cool” innovation, Yoplait and MyBlogSpark are offering a “Keeping Cool in School” prize pack to one lucky Fort Worth on the Cheap reader. The prize pack consists of an insulated lunch tote, a mini water bottle, sandwich keeper, a pen fan (yes, a pen with a fan on it) and a few school supplies. They’ll also receive a coupon for a free package of Go-Gurt.

To enter, leave a comment on this post with a creative school lunch idea. You can get up to 2 extra entries by doing the following:
1. “Like” Fort Worth on the Cheap on Facebook. If you are already a “liker,” just leave a separate comment saying so.
2. Tweet this on Twitter: “Win a back-to-school prize pack from @fwcheap! http://bit.ly/bp1qVP” – then leave another comment with a link to the tweet.

I’ll draw for the winner on Aug. 24 at 12 p.m. and notify them shortly thereafter. You must be a Texas resident to enter.

Good luck! If you can’t wait until the contest is over to try the yogurt, visit Coupons.com to download a coupon for 75 cents off 2 packs of Go-Gurt.

Disclosure: Yoplait and MyBlogSpark provided a prize pack to me and one to give away to my readers. All opinions in this post are mine. I did not receive any other compensation from MyBlogSpark or Yoplait for this post.

30% Off at Old Navy, Today Only

Category : family, shopping

Remember my post about Old Navy Halloween costumes the other day? If you didn’t buy, you’re in luck. Today only (Aug. 19) Old Navy is offering 30 percent off all online purchases. Enter the code ONFALL when you check out. If you buy on Aug. 20, the coupon code will be worth 25 percent off, and then 20 percent off on Aug. 21. With this discount, a $29.50 costume would be about $20.

Pair this discount with some sale items – like the cute women’s scoop-neck, perfect-for-fall $10 tees and you’ve got some great deals. Shirts for $7? Sounds good to me. This would also be a good chance to shop for back to school without having to brave the mall crowds on tax-free weekend.

Shipping is also free if you spend $75 or more. Remember, any items that don’t work for you can be returned to an Old Navy store near you.
