Ready, Set, Bloom! At the Kimbell

Spring Break Extravaganza at the Kimbell

During the week of Spring Break, the Kimbell Art Museum will host a variety of free art-centric kids’ activities to keep your students entertained. Celebrate vacation time at the Museum with ongoing art activities, interactive family tours, storybook readings, teen studios led by guest artists, and children’s films. This Saturday, Nov. 21, will be another session of Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio, a fun, free activity for kids 12 and under, at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. The program introduces kids and their adult companions to various works of art. Each session features a brief gallery activity and a related studio art project. The event starts at 1 p.m.; however, space is limited to 20 kids and their adult companions. Sign up at the entrance to the Renzo Piano Pavilion 1 hour before the program starts.

The theme for this week is “Salty Seascapes.”

Bella Italia Festival at Kimbell Art Museum

This week’s theme is “Ancient Animal Mosaics.”

While the event is free, space is limited. You may sign up for the event in the museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion one hour before it begins.

Scottish Festival at the Kimbell

On Saturday, July 18, the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth will host Kimbell Fest: Scotland, a special celebration of Scottish heritage. The event runs from 2 to 10 p.m. Bring the entire family to enjoy free exhibition admission, innovative art activities, face painting, films, cultural performances and demonstrations, and exciting live music by breakout Texas musicians on the Museum’s celebrated lawn. A detailed schedule of events is here.

The event is being held in celebration of the museum’s newest exhibit, Botticelli to Braque: Masterpieces from the National Gallery of Scotland. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets for listening to live music on the lawn. Outside food and drink is not permitted.

Today, Feb. 20 at 5 p.m., is Studio Five 90, a special event that happens on selected Fridays at the Kimbell Art Museum. Teens and adults can participate in these open-format sessions, which mingle art-making and varied gallery activities to encourage fresh ways of looking at and responding to featured artworks and themes. This week’s theme is “Cubist Sculpture.” This is a free event! Advance registration is not required, but you can sign up an hour before the event at the museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion. Space is limited to 25 participants.
