Friday, May 7:
“No Exit” - this play by Jean-Paul Sartre starts at 8 p.m. every night this weekend at the TWU Redbud Theatre in Denton. Tickets are a mere $10, and $8 for students and seniors. See here for more info.
Frontier Forts Days – this event at the Stockyards Station in Fort Worth gives you a peek into what life was like in frontier days. Stockyards Station is at 130 E. Exchange Ave. This event is free. Goes on till 5 p.m. Friday, then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Watters Creek Fine Arts Festival – kicks off at 3 p.m. today at the Watters Creek shopping center in Allen. Check out a juried selection of arts & crafts, face painting for kids, and live entertainment. Free. Also on Saturday and Sunday. Visit www.watters-creek.com for more info.
City Arts Festival – kicks off at 6 p.m. today in Fair Park in Dallas. Enjoy live music and dancing, free museum visits, demos and workshops. Free. Parking is $10; take the DART in to save a few bucks. See http://www.cityartsfestival.com for details.
Maverick Celebration – this end of year bash at UTA features speakers, a concert by Micky and the Motorcars, a fireworks show and free food and drinks. Begins at 8 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion of Arlington (100 W. Abram St.)

Saturday, May 8:
Cowtown Farmers Market – buy local produce, baked goods and other stuff at this market in the Edelweiss Restaurant Parking lot in Fort Worth. 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. (or earlier if they sell out).

CityArts Festival – see Friday’s entry.
Fielder Spring Festival – this annual event sponsored by the Arlington Historical Society includes workshops on gardening, a plant sale, raffles, and children’s activities. Free. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fielder House Museum (1616 W. Abram St. in Arlington).
Lola’spalooza – enjoy hear a ton of bands play at Lola’s Saloon, beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is $6. Lola’s is at 2736 6th St. in Fort Worth.
National Train Day – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Worth Intermodal Transportation Center (1000 Jones St.), visitors can tour Amtrak cars, see model trains, and enjoy face painting and live music. Also taking place in Dallas at the same time, at Union Station.

Sunday, May 9:
Prairie Pioneer Mother’s Day Celebration – This free event at the Connemara Conservancy in Allen features live entertainment, storytelling, and nature activities. The conservancy is at 1314 W. McDermott St. The fun begins at 2 p.m.

Youth Orchestra - the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth will present works by Mozart, Bidet and Borodin. Preconcert begins at 5 p.m., regular performance begins at 7. Tickets are $5 kids and $10 adults. The concert is at the TCU Ed Landreth Auditorium. For info, visit www.yofw.org.

Moms, mark your calendars for May 6. That’s the day that three DFW-area malls will be hosting a “National Mom’s Nite Out” event. These gatherings sound like a lot of fun. Here’s the dates and events for each mall:

Firewheel Town Center (245 Cedar Sage Dr., Garland) 6:30 p.m. Enjoy fun interactive activities, live demos, food and wine tasting and yoga from Yoga Synergy. There will also be prize drawings. At 8:30, the fun will move to the nearby park, where they’ll show the movie “Mama Mia” on a 30-foot screen.

Irving Mall (3880 Irving Mall, Irving): 6 p.m. Retailers will provide skin and makeup consultations, complimentary massages, summer fashion tips, and the first 100 moms to arrive will receive a free ticket for a special showing of “The Backup Plan” with Jennifer Lopez. (This will take place at the mall’s AMC Theatre.)

North East Mall (1101 Melbourne St., Hurst): 6 p.m. Enjoy social networking, demos, food and wine tastings, and shopping incentives.

From Sunday, April 25 through Saturday, May 1, CVS is having a buy one, get one free sale on Kodak Picture Movie DVDs. This is a great deal – but with this BOGO coupon from Kodak, you can get 2 Picture Movie DVDs free. How, you ask? Well, the store pays for one of your discs with their sale, and the coupon pays for the other.

These DVDs are movie slideshows that you make at kiosks inside the store. You bring a CD or memory stick with pictures on it, and the machine arranges them into slideshow format and sets them to music, then burns them onto a DVD.

If your cashier gives you trouble about the coupon, ask for a manager. According to the CVS coupon policy, combining a BOGO sale with a BOGO coupon is acceptable.

Register Now For Mom & Me Camp

Camp El Tesoro in Granbury is having a “Mom & Me” overnight camping event from May 8-9. Moms, grandmothers, aunts and older sisters are invited to bring a special child in their lives to the campgrounds for two days of fun.

Registration to attend the camp just during the day on Saturday is $15 per person. This price includes lunch. If you want to stay overnight in one of the camp’s screened cabins, the cost is $50 per person. This includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. However, you can get a $5-per-person discount if you register for the event by April 23. To register, fill out this form and send it in.

So what will you do at the camp? There will be singalongs, hayrides and a good old-fashioned campfire, complete with Smores. This sounds like a great way to spend some quality time with a special kid.
