Summer Fun at UTA Planetarium

Next week (May 31) marks the beginning of the summer schedule at the UTA Planetarium in Arlington. This is a great, fun venue with lots of interesting films for kids of all ages. Come in and enjoy the air conditioning while watching a show that’s anything but ordinary! What’s more, it’s cheap, with adult admission only $6 and kids’ admission just $4. The summer schedule, which runs through Aug. 28, is as follows:

Holiday Shows at UTA Planetarium

Looking for something different to do this season? Visit the UTA Planetarium and enjoy their holiday-themed shows! They’ll still have their regular shows on the schedule, but you can also enjoy these special shows that will only be around in December:

Holiday Music Magic – This music entertainment show features a variety of holiday songs from Mannheim Steamroller and Burl Ives to Brenda Lee and Kurt Bestor. The soundtrack is visually choreographed with 3-D artistic animation, real-time performance elements, and all-dome scenery.

Season of Light – This show recounts the historical, religious, and cultural rituals practiced during the time of the winter solstice — not only Christian and Jewish, but also Celtic, Nordic, Irish, Mexican, and Hopi.

Laser Holidays –  AVI is proud to offer an exciting and different way to be festive during the Holiday season! This popular program features a mix of everyone’s favorite holiday music, from the classical to the modern, all set to fantastic laser, cove, and digital artwork.

All shows are suitable for all ages. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for kids, free for kids under 3. The Planetarium is at 700 Planetarium Place in Arlington, on the UTA campus.

Summer Fun at UTA Planetarium

Just a reminder that there ARE some cheap, fun, and COOL things to do in Texas in the summer! The Planetarium at UT Arlington has interesting shows throughout the week, from kids’ selections to films geared toward adults. You can see the schedule of public shows here- it’s good through Aug. 23. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for kids, teens and seniors, and $3 for UTA students with ID.

For the month of August, the Planetarium is also bringing back their $2 movies. The movies take place every Friday in August at 7 p.m. The featured movie for the month is White Room: 02B3. See more about the film here.

Free Show at UTA Planetarium

On Tuesday, March 4, fans in 10 cities across the country will have the exclusive opportunity to be the first on the planet to see the highly anticipated series premiere of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, prior to its debut, during the Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey Premiere Screening Event and Live Global Q&A. This screening will take place at the UT Arlington Planetarium at 7 p.m. The series premieres on TV on Sunday, March 9.

Upon conclusion of the multi-city free screenings, Cosmos host Neil deGrasse Tyson, writer/executive producer/director Ann Druyan, executive producer Seth MacFarlane, executive producer Mitchell Cannold, executive producer/director Brannon Braga and co-executive producer Jason Clark will participate in a LIVE, interactive Q&A with audiences.

This is a free event, but seating is limited, so visit the screening website now to reserve your space.

The UTA Planetarium is at 700 Planetarium Place in Arlington. Free parking is available in Faculty Lot F10 on West Street. Covered parking is also available in the Maverick Parking Garage at $2.50 per hour.

Astronomy Day at UTA Planetarium

The day will be full with discounted Planetarium shows, free lectures by local astronomers and space enthusiasts, free handouts, telescopes pointed to the Sun (with proper solar filters of course), Moon, visible planets and more! Meet the members of the Texas Astronomical Society (TAS), Fort Worth Astronomical Society (FWAS), National Space Society of North Texas (NSS-NT) and other local astronomy clubs. This is a free event.
